Amanda grew up in the Florida area and began to see from a young age how policing affected communities of color and communities of poverty differently. Amanda has now been a Legal Assistant at a criminal defense firm for several years. She is passionate about helping persons charged with crimes navigate the complicated legal system. Amanda is determined to raise awareness about criminal justice reform, specifically issues with race, abolishing the death penalty, mental illness, and wrongful convictions. Justine grew up in the upstate New York area and quickly saw how substance abuse was criminalized. This inspired her to pursue a legal career with the specific goal of helping those with substance abuse disorders. She now works as a criminal defense attorney that is passionate about criminal justice reform issues, specifically substance abuse issues, abolishing the death penalty, sentencing reform, and prison reform. Like listening to these young ladies. I don’t often agree with some of Their political positions but I find the information very useful and well researched. The production is excellent. Voices are clear and easy to understand which is very important when listening for and hour. I love that the challenge the system. It’s the only way to make improvements. I will love to hear an episode on the legality of the detention of the Jan 6 protesters for over a year without due process regardless of their opinion of guilt or innocence.
